Questions
for reflection and planning
1.
Wie geht es dir allgemein?
Ø
How
are you doing in general?
Answer: I am fine and happy in this
community. I am doing well in general
though I am very weak in Deutsch. But I am trying my best level to pick the
Deutsch up.
2.
Wie ist das Verhältnis zu
den Mitbrüdern in der Kommunität? Wie ist das Verhältnis mit den Menschen
außerhalb der Kommunität?
Ø
How is the relationship with the confreres in the community? How is the
relationship with people outside the community?
Answer: My relationship with the confreres in the community is
good. I have brotherly relationship with community members and I found in this
community that all are helping minded. As I have come from different culture
and background, all are helping me to learn and adopt the new culture. Since I
am new in German, I am being acquainted with the people yet. So far I have a good
and beautiful relationship with people. I found that they are also accepted
minded and positive towards me as missionary.
Bereicherung? Was ist schwer zu verstehen? Wo sind die größten Unterschiede zu
deiner Kultur?
What special experiences have you had with German culture in the last
days/weeks? What of it is enriching in your eyes? What is difficult to
understand? Where are the biggest differences to your culture? What else do you
need to know in order to get along well in German culture? Where are
possibilities that you can enrich the life in the community or the pastoral
with your culture?
Answer: I have experienced that all greets to each other
“Hello or Gutten Tag” etc. This is a positive for me to greet each other.
Whenever I ask help to anyone, she/he is always ready to help. So this enriches
me. I found that Language is a little bit difficult for me and hymns sung in
the Church. The biggest differences to my culture are Food, language and
lifestyle. I think if I can capture the language well, I can get to know the
culture day by day. The more I will be with the people the more I can learn
about the culture. So culture is a matter of living in a community and to live
within. I think that it would a little better to give a conference on Priestly
culture in German. How to encounter with people or young boys, girls and
children! How to do posture and gesture in the church specially in the Mass and
social activities! Every culture is rich. So what is adoptable and positive
from my culture, I can apply or share them here with my fellow brothers and
some other that is good for pastoral activities. Sharing ideas, assisting in
the work, giving time, listening, visiting sick and sharing the good news,
whatever is needed in the community and pastoral area I can contribute.
4. Welchen Vorurteilen bist du begegnet? Welche deiner
herausgestellt? Welche Vorurteile wurden widerlegt? Wurdest
du mit Rassismus und Fremdenfeindlichkeit konfrontiert?
Ø
What prejudices have you encountered? Which of your prejudices about
German/European culture have turned out to be true? Which prejudices have been
refuted? Have you been confronted with racism and xenophobia?
Answer: Before coming to German, My fellow brothers were
telling me that Germanys are very strict of time, that means very punctual or
sharp time. Many were telling also that they are very gentle and kind man in
the world. Some people also said me that they are very proud of their culture
and language; they do not like to speak other language. So what I experience is that really Germanys
are punctual and kind and gentle man. So
far, I did not face any racism and against foreign. As far I have a good
experience.
5. Wie geht es dir mit der Sprache? Wo gibt es noch
Schwierigkeiten? Was fällt dir besonders schwer? Welche Erfolge gab es? Hast du
das Gefühl, dass es einen Fortschritt gibt? Was hilft dir am meisten beim
Erlernen der Sprache?
Ø
How are you doing with the language? Where are there still difficulties?
What do you find particularly difficult? What successes have there been? Do you
feel that there is progress? What helps you the most in learning the language?
Answer: As far possible, I am
trying to learn language at my best level. There are some pronunciations that I
find difficulties to pronounce, specially Umlauts. So I have to work hard on
it. I think that I am progressing in learning language. Now at least, I can
manage to read myself and I can also communicate a little bit. Conversation
with brothers in the community and learning lessons in language course are most
helpful. Sometimes conversation with outside people helps me much to improve my
Deutsch.
Ø What questions do you
have right now regarding the organization and planning of the next weeks and
days? Where do you still need clarification?
Answer: I have no specific
questions at the moment. It would be a
little better to introduce in which ministry, areas and field oblates are
working in German sothat I can prefer myself for that now on.
Do you still need anything for daily needs?

to the cold situation.

erreicht haben?
Ø Have you set yourself
goals? Which ones? By when do you want to have reached them?
Answer: At the moment, my goal is to learn language and
culture well. I have also set my goals to work with the people, to offer Holy
Mass and pastoral activities, including sacramental services, accompaniment to the
needy, loneliness. I am also available to work wherever is needed to give
service in the province. I will
gradually achieve my goals.
With
much thanks and gratitude
Johnastine Pantra,
