Introduction:
“Go into the
whole world and preach the gospel to
every creature.” It is a new milestone for Bangladesh delegation that Fr. Lintu
Areng, OMI is missioning to Paraguay. Nature of the Church is missionary.
Oblate is missionary Congregation and always missioning to the people who are
needy, poor and marginalized. Therefore, Pope Pius XI called The Oblates
as “specialists of difficult missions” and Pope Francis as “Men of Advent”. The
Missionary Congregation of Oblates of Mary Immaculate is called to serve the
Mother Church and the people of God, ready to welcome, walk and be close to
them. St. Eugene de Mazenod heard the call of the Spirit during his life time
in diversified forms in the context of Local Church, France as well as the
world, the Universal Church. He always responded to the call of Spirit with
zeal and eagerness. The oblates still hear the call of the Spirit and responds
to Him. Under the guidance of the Spirit and after a prolonged prayerful
discernment, our superior General approved Fr. Lintu Areng as Missionary to
Paraguay. Fr. Lintu Areng, OMI has been given missionary obedience to the new
mission from Bangladesh Delegation too. It is a new journey and an evangelizing
mission for Bangladesh Delegation. St. Eugene was a man of advent, docile to
the Holy Spirit and a man who could read the signs of the times. We, the
Oblates, also have inherited these characteristics from our Founder. Pope
Francis reminds the Oblates, “your missionary history is the story of many
consecrated people, who have offered and scarified their lives for the mission,
for the poor, in order to reach distant lands where there were still “sheep
without a shepherd.” Every inch of the world and each human soul is a mission
territory, awaiting to hear the Good News. General Chapter 2016, invited all
the Oblates to find the new faces of the poor and dare nothing to walk with and
serve them. Mandated by the Chapter’s invitation, Bangladesh Delegation was
chosen by the AORC as venue for indigenous mission. Inspired by the Chapter’s
mandate, we go to PARAGUAY as “men of advent” to be close to the people and
commit to build God’s Kingdom. As Fr. Lintu Areng is pioneering to the new
mission, representing the Congregation, let us pray for this good health, mind
and spirit. May the Holy Spirit, Mother Mary and St. Eugene be with him always!
Today we are also very happy that We celebrating the Birthday of our beloved
Delegation Superior, Fr. Ajit Victor Costa. He is serving each oblates in
Bangladesh. In this Auspicious occasion, We pray for him so that he can carry
out ministry with sound body and mind. May God bless him! Rev. Father We wish
you all the best and our loves and prayer for you.
After Mass a symbolic missionary gift will be given to
Fr. Lintu Areng, OMI.
Bag.
Bag is one of the important things for a journey. We carry many things
in the bag. Father is going to the New Mission, he needs a bag in which he will
carry the Holy Bible to the people and will preach the Good News to
people. Now as a sign of missioning to
Paraguay as missionary, Fr. Ajit Costa, Delegation Superior will render a bag
to Fr. Lintu Areng OMI.
Candle: Candle has many meaning in
different cultures. According to Christian culture. Candle is a sign of Christ
who is light in which we see hope and faith. It brings also light in darkness
and life in Christ. Now Father will give him a Candle.
Sandal: Sandal Protects our feet and keep
our feed clean. It also helps to walk miles after miles. As missionary, Fr.
Lintu Areng OMI, will walk miles after miles; He needs a pair of good sandals
so that he can walk miles after miles to preach the Good news. Now Fr. Ajit Costa will give him a pair of
sandals
